Peer Review Process

Every submitted manuscript will be reviewed and selected by the Editorial Team based on the relevance of the research field and compliance with the manuscript template and writing guidelines of the Journal of Bimbingan Penyuluhan Islam using the following criteria:

1. Each submitted manuscript will be reviewed for authenticity or originality, its contribution to the field within the journal’s scope, grammar, and the journal’s formatting guidelines, as well as the reliability of the methodology and theoretical concepts relevant to the topic and analysis.
2. Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and clearly, either by providing comments or notes directly in the text or through the Manuscript Review Checklist Form. The deadline for completing the review is 2 weeks from the date the manuscript is received by the reviewer. If this timeframe is deemed insufficient, the reviewer must notify the section editor, providing a clear explanation. The extension period for the manuscript review is 7 days from the date of notification; reviewers are expected to complete their work on time.
3. The reviewer provides recommendations based on the manuscript review as a basis for the editor’s or section editor’s decision, which is then communicated to the author. Manuscript review recommendations include: Accept Submission (manuscript accepted); Revisions Required (manuscript accepted on the condition that the author revises it and resubmits it to the reviewer); Resubmit for Review (manuscript needs to be reviewed by another reviewer); Resubmit Elsewhere (manuscript should be submitted to another journal publisher); Decline Submission (manuscript rejected); and See Comments.
4. The editor will verify that contributions fall within the journal’s scope and are original; authors of any manuscripts that do not meet these criteria will be notified of the rejection via email.
5. The originality of submissions is also verified through a similarity check using Turnitin; a maximum similarity rate of 25% is permitted for a submission to proceed to the review stage. If the similarity rate exceeds this limit, the author will be notified of the rejection via email and through the OJS author portal.
6. In the next stage, the section editor will review the manuscript; if there are discrepancies or inconsistencies in the formatting and structure of the manuscript with the current journal template, the manuscript will be rejected, and the author will be notified of the rejection via email.
7. The principle for selecting reviewers for each manuscript is that reviewers must have a track record of having at least once published as an author in an accredited and/or international scientific journal on a topic relevant to the manuscript’s topic.
8. The review process uses a double-blind review method involving at least two reviewers selected by the editor; if the reviewers reach conflicting decisions, an additional reviewer will be assigned to provide an assessment.
9.  Each review process conducted by a reviewer will be completed within a maximum of 4 (four) weeks, starting from the date the appointed reviewer agrees to undertake the review.
