Generatif Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policies

The International Journal of Islamic Economics (IJIE) recognizes the increasing use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in scholarly research and academic publishing. IJIE supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of AI tools while maintaining the principles of academic integrity, research ethics, and author accountability.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Authors
Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with language editing, grammar correction, manuscript organization, coding assistance, or other non-substantive aspects of manuscript preparation. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and validity of all submitted content.
Authors must ensure that AI-generated outputs are carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by humans prior to submission. The use of AI does not diminish the authors' responsibility for the scholarly content of the manuscript.

Disclosure of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use
Any use of Generative AI tools in manuscript preparation must be clearly disclosed at the time of submission. Authors are required to include an AI Usage Statement that specifies the name of the AI tool and its purpose.
Example:
"The authors used Generative Artificial Intelligence tools solely for language editing and readability improvement. All scientific analyses, interpretations, and conclusions were independently developed, verified, and approved by the authors."

Prohibited Uses
The following uses of Generative AI are strictly prohibited:

  1. Fabrication or manipulation of research data;

  2. Generation of false or misleading results;

  3. Creation of fabricated references or citations;

  4. Production of falsified images, figures, or visual evidence;

  5. Plagiarism, paraphrasing plagiarism, or other forms of academic misconduct;

  6. Submission of AI-generated content without substantial human oversight and verification.

Authorship
Generative AI systems and tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires accountability, responsibility, and the ability to respond to editorial and peer-review processes, which AI systems cannot fulfill.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by Reviewers and Editors
Reviewers and editors must not upload confidential manuscripts or unpublished materials into publicly accessible AI systems. Editorial decisions, peer-review evaluations, and ethical assessments must remain the responsibility of qualified human experts.

Compliance and Editorial Action
IJIE reserves the right to request additional information regarding AI use and to take appropriate editorial action, including manuscript rejection or article retraction, in cases of undisclosed or unethical use of Generative AI technologies.
