Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to Pedagogy: Journal of English Language Teaching are subject to plagiarism screening by the Editorial Board using Turnitin app.
The journal upholds academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other forms of unethical publication practices. Authors are required to comply with the following principles:
1. Originality: Authors must submit original work that has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
2. Proper Citation and Attribution: Authors must ensure that all ideas, data, text, and other materials taken from the work of others are appropriately cited and, where necessary, quoted. Proper acknowledgment must be given to all sources that have contributed to the research.
3. Duplicate and Concurrent Submissions: Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting manuscripts that report substantially the same research to multiple journals or primary publications without appropriate justification constitutes unethical publishing behavior.
4. Self-Plagiarism: Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite their own previously published work when it is reused. Reusing substantial portions of previously published material without proper acknowledgment is not permitted.
Plagiarism Screening Procedure
The Editorial Board conducts plagiarism screening through the following procedures:
1. Manual Screening: The Editorial Board examines manuscripts manually, checking citations, quotations, references, and textual similarities against available online and offline sources.
2. Similarity Check Using Turnitin: All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin app to identify textual similarities with previously published works and other sources
3. Evaluation of Similarity Reports: The Editorial Board carefully evaluates Turnitin similarity reports to determine whether identified similarities indicate potential plagiarism, taking into account proper citations, quotations, references, and the context of the matching text.
4. Rejection Policy: Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 15% may be rejected during the initial screening if the report indicates substantial or unacceptable similarities. The final decision is made by the Editorial Board based on the nature and extent of the similarities, not solely on the similarity percentage.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and complying with the journal's publication ethics and citation requirements.
