This study examines the phenomenon of the transformation in the use of Assholatu 'Ala Nabi sholawat music on the TikTok platform, which is no longer limited to serving as a medium for religious rituals but has evolved into a medium of da'wah communication within digital culture. This study aims to analyze how the aesthetic transformation of Assholatu 'Ala Nabi music is represented in TikTok da'wah content and to explain how this transformation shapes da'wah communication practices within the TikTok ecosystem.
This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through digital observation of TikTok content selected using purposive sampling based on the use of the Assholatu 'Ala Nabi sound, da'wah content, engagement levels, and publication period from January 2025 to July 2026. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, and subsequently interpreted through Philip Tagg's music semiotics theory and Stuart Hall's representation theory.
The findings reveal that the aesthetic transformation of sholawat music occurs through the recontextualization of musical elements into audiovisual representations that adapt to digital culture. This transformation positions sholawat music not merely as a form of religious expression but also as a medium that shapes more participatory, interactive, and representation-based da'wah communication practices on TikTok. This study emphasizes that musical aesthetics play a strategic role in reconfiguring how da'wah is produced, interpreted, and disseminated within social media ecosystems, particularly TikTok.
